11 feared killed as bandits launch attacks on Sokoto communities

No fewer than 11 people have been reported dead after suspected bandits launched coordinated attacks on several communities in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The attack, which reportedly took place on Thursday night, was disclosed in a post shared on X by security analyst Bakatsine on Friday.

According to the report, the assailants invaded the communities of Turtsawa, Mazau and Majema, where they opened attacks on residents.

The attackers were believed to be members of a bandit group loyal to notorious kingpin Bello Turji.

News Headline: added that several other people sustained serious injuries during the attack and are currently receiving treatment at undisclosed medical facilities.

“Last night, 11 people were killed in attacks on communities between Turtsawa, Mazau and Majema in Sabon Birni LGA of Sokoto State. The attackers are believed to be bandits loyal to the notorious bandit leader Bello Turji. Several others sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment,” Bakatsine wrote.

Bakatsine expressed sympathy with the families of those who lost their loved ones and called for decisive action to end the cycle of violence in the area
