A Chocolate City employee, Tochukwugbubemi Ojogwe, has filed a suit before the High Court of Lagos State against Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, over an alleged physical assault said to have occurred during the 2025 Flytime Music Festival in Lagos.
According to court documents, the alleged incident occurred on December 22, 2025, at the Eko Convention Centre, venue of the Flytime Festival, one of Nigeria’s major annual entertainment events.
In the suit filed at the Lagos Judicial Division of the High Court, Ojogwe is named as the claimant, while Odumodublvck is listed as the defendant.
The claimant described himself as a Nigerian citizen, professional project manager and public relations officer in the Nigerian music and entertainment industry, as well as an employee of Chocolate City Limited, whose livelihood and professional reputation depend on his physical safety, emotional well-being and ability to perform his professional duties without intimidation or violence.
The defendant was identified in the statement of claim as a musician and entertainment artiste professionally known as Odumodublvck.
Ojogwe said he was at the Flytime Festival in an official capacity and was backstage in the company of an artiste, the artiste’s personal security bouncer, accredited event security personnel and others while carrying out his professional duties.
According to the filing, Odumodublvck allegedly approached the backstage area and initially interacted cordially with some persons present.
The claimant, however, alleged that the interaction later turned violent after the rapper sighted him and walked up to him under the pretext of starting a casual conversation by asking whether he or his brother worked at Chocolate City.
Ojogwe alleged that, without provocation, justification or lawful excuse, the defendant forcefully struck him in the face and immediately pushed him.
He is seeking compensation for medical expenses allegedly incurred after the incident, including ₦2 million for consultation, medication and follow-up care; ₦1 million for ancillary medical costs such as diagnostics, X-rays, CT scans and transportation; and ₦1.5 million for additional out-of-pocket expenses.
The claimant said he would rely on receipts and other supporting documents at trial to prove the expenses.
He also alleged that the incident happened during the festive period, which he described as one of the busiest and most commercially intensive seasons in the Nigerian music and entertainment industry.
According to him, the injuries and trauma disrupted several professional engagements and prevented him from travelling outside Nigeria with a Chocolate City artiste for scheduled work, causing him to lose valuable professional exposure and career opportunities.
Ojogwe is also seeking ₦50 million as compensation for alleged financial losses, which he said represent income from delayed project deliverables, estimated loss of productivity and missed engagements he would ordinarily have earned from confirmed professional bookings.
Beyond the financial claims, the suit alleges that the incident caused him severe physical pain, emotional distress, embarrassment and psychological trauma, which allegedly impaired his ability to perform his duties as a public relations officer in the competitive entertainment industry.
The claimant further alleged that the incident subjected him to public ridicule, damaged his standing in the entertainment industry and disrupted his career progression.
He also claimed that he continued to suffer anxiety, loss of confidence and apprehension in his personal and professional interactions, requiring ongoing therapeutic treatment.
Ojogwe alleged that the defendant’s conduct was high-handed, malicious and calculated to intimidate and demean him, adding that Odumodublvck had allegedly shown no remorse and had continued making assertions capable of further injuring his dignity and reputation.
The court filing also stated that after the incident, the claimant instructed his solicitors to issue a formal demand to the defendant seeking compensation for the injuries and losses allegedly suffered.
The matter is expected to proceed before the Lagos State High Court, where both parties will have the opportunity to present evidence in support of their claims and defence.
