Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared Tuesday, July 28, 2026, a public holiday to allow civil servants and other public sector workers to collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs).
The announcement was made in a statement released on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.
According to the statement, the work-free day is intended to give public servants enough time to obtain their PVCs before the voter registration exercise closes.
A circular issued across the state’s public service explained that the decision was aimed at encouraging workers to fulfil their civic responsibility by participating in the electoral process.
According to the circular, those on essential duties, like medical workers, security staff, etc., are, however, advised to make necessary arrangements among themselves in this regard so as not to have negative consequences on the lives of the citizenry.
Governor Adeleke urges public servants and other informal workers to collect their voter cards as urgently as possible, reminding the public of how critical next month’s election is to the state and her future.
“I encourage all registered voters to reach all the collection points without delay. Your vote is your power. Your voter’s card is your licence to the ballot paper and, by extension, to the ballot box,” the statement added.
