The Federal Ministry of Interior has announced that all official communication with the ministry will move entirely to digital platforms beginning December 1, 2025.
The ministry said the transition, described as a “decisive step” in its digital transformation drive, is in line with the Digitalisation Reform Pillar of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP 2025).
It also complies with a directive issued by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation mandating all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to adopt electronic communication and records management.
With the new policy taking effect, the ministry will stop accepting manually submitted letters, mails, or any form of physical correspondence.
According to a statement signed by Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, all documents, requests, enquiries and official messages must now be channelled through its approved digital platforms.
The designated channels include the Interior Correspondence Platform (https://interas.interior.gov.ng), which will serve as the primary email portal for communication.
“In addition, users can submit correspondence via the Ministry’s official website (https://www.interior.gov.ng), accessible through the backend after registration”, the statement said.

According to the ministry, the shift to paperless operations is aimed at improving service delivery, enhancing transparency, and supporting the Federal Government’s long-term plan for a fully digital public service.
It urged MDAs, organisations, partners and members of the public to comply with the directive to ensure seamless processing of communication and requests.
