JUST IN: Spain edge Argentina 1-0 to lift FIFA World Cup trophy

Spain claimed their second FIFA World Cup title with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over 10-man Argentina after extra time on Sunday.

The decisive moment came early in the second half of extra time when substitute Ferran Torres calmly slotted home after an excellent knock-back from Nico Williams.

Torres’ goal proved enough to separate the two sides, handing Spain a historic victory and their second World Cup triumph.

Spain dominated the match, which changed complexion in second-half stoppage-time when midfielder Enzo Fernandez was sent off for a second yellow card after a reckless tackle on Pau Cuba.
