Karimi condemns Niger kidnappings, blames mischief‑makers targeting Tinubu govt

Sunday Karimi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator representing Kogi West has condemned the recent spate of attacks and kidnappings of schoolchildren in Niger State and others, describing the violence as calculated acts by mischief ‑makers bent on smearing President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

According to a press statement that was made available to journalists in Lokoja, over the weekend from his office, Karimi highlighted that the recent kidnapping of schoolgirls in Niger and Borno States is a deliberate attempt to discredit President Tinubu’s leadership.

He called on all Nigerians to remain steadfast in their confidence in the government, reiterating the President’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding lives and property , as he urged state governors to adopt community ‑based security measures as the first line of defence, advocating the establishment of Community Security Agencies to complement federal efforts.

He emphasised that citizen participation through vigilant reporting and active involvement is crucial for protecting communities.

He equally warned that the school ‑related abductions are part of a broader insecurity pattern in Nigeria, but asserted that the conspirators’ plans will ultimately fail.
