An earthquake has rocked the popular Spanish holiday spot of Granada with terrified locals reporting tremors that “felt like an explosion”.
The quake occurred 3.73 miles (6km) South of Granada at 3.46pm local time (2.46pm BST) sparking fear in the nearby city as “floors and walls moved”.
The earthquake measured a magnitude of 3.7, according to the Mediterranean Seismological Centre, with its epicentre in the town of Ogíjares, at a depth of 6 kilometres.
“It was rough here in Churriana de la Vega; I was asleep and went flying out of bed,” one person who lives 3km from the epicentre said.
Another person said: “There hadn’t been one this intense since January 2021”.
Meanwhile a third person posting on X said: “Yes, near traumatology it’s been like an explosion, they’ve moved the floor and walls.”
