Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has finally spoken on why he has been openly challenging President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He shared his stand during a recent appearance on Channels Television, insisting his criticism is not personal but driven by national concerns.
Dalung said he is uncomfortable with the “emperor-like leadership” he believes the current government has adopted.
He argued that governance should be open, democratic, and people-focused, not centred around one leader.
The former minister, who is now a top member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), noted that Nigerians are struggling and deserve honest leadership and policies that relieve hardship.
He added that his duty, as someone who has served in government, is to speak up when he believes things are going wrong.
Dalung maintained that constructive opposition helps democracy and is not an act of hatred or bitterness.
According to him, citizens must hold leaders accountable if they notice tendencies that “threaten the interests of the nation.”
Dalung insisted he would continue to voice his concerns until he sees meaningful changes in how the country is being governed. “I am not silent because silence is a betrayal of the people,” he stressed during the interview.
