Private and public schools in Anambra state would be shutdown failing to comply with the government ban on graduation ceremonies in those affected institutions .
However graduation ceremonies for students graduating from Senior Secondary Schools would be allowed but must be volunteering without any form of payment.
According to Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation Dr Law Mafor in a statement stated that the essence of the ban is targeted at reducing the financial burden of parents and guardians during such occasions
This is coming as most schools are pulling all stops for the graduation ceremonies of nursery, primary and secondary schools in the state .
“Mr. Governor has placed an indefinite ban on graduation ceremonies in all schools in Anambra State. The essence is to reduce the financial burden on parents”
“This covers all Kindergarten, Primary, and Secondary schools in whatever guise – passing out, cross over, etc as the ban applies to both public and private schools”

The statement noted that the only exception is graduation from Senior Secondary School (SS3).
“Condition for Exception: Graduation ceremonies for students exiting Senior Secondary School is optional and where carried out, must be conducted without any form of levy or financial demand on students and parents”
“Sanctions: Any school management found in violation of this directive will face serious sanctions, which may include the closure of such school” he said.
