Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has flagged off a residential layout plan for a 500-unit housing estate in Kontagora.
The Farmer Governor who noted that the 40 hectares of land belong to the state government, was hitherto reserved for the Radio Niger Corporation, Bologi Ibrahim, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor revealed in a statement.
He said people have encroached on the land and some bad elements were occupying the place.
The Farmer Governor explained that the state government decided to clear the land, and it is ready to invest in the necessary site-and- services and will be allocated to buyers.
He announced that the estate will be named after the Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora, Alhaji Muhammad Barau Mu’azu II, adding that the development of the estate would be in tandem with the vision of the state.
The Farmer Governor expressed optimism that the estate, when completed, will open up Kontagora and also provide the teeming population an opportunity to own houses here.
He also revealed that the state government will partner with the Renewed Hope Housing Project to make sure that the estate development become a reality.
The Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Barr. Bello Ahmad Agwara, disclosed that the layout will have about 305 plots comprising 100 by 50 and 100 by 30 and three commercial plots; neighbourhood centre, a shopping mall, a children’s playground, and a clinic, among others.
He said the proposed layout design was done in line with the new Niger agenda of the Bago administration.
