South African singer Tyla has stirred conversation online after claiming that many men today are more concerned about avoiding the “simp” label than openly expressing love for their partners.
Speaking during a lighthearted discussion, the Grammy-winning singer joked that modern dating has become more difficult because many men now behave like “divas.”
“Guys these days… Divas. Bedazzled divas,” she said, with another speaker agreeing, “They’re divas!”
Asked whether she preferred a nonchalant man or someone who openly showed interest, Tyla said a healthy relationship requires balance.
“There just needs to be a balance. Like, you need to know when to be nonchalant and when to be chalant.”
The conversation later shifted to the idea of “simping” in relationships, with Tyla suggesting that many men now avoid showing affection because they fear being judged.
“I just think like guys don’t want to be simps anymore. It’s kind of emb@rrassing now.”
However, after one of the male speakers said he had no issue being a simp, Tyla encouraged men to stop hiding their feelings.
“Own it. If you love your woman, own it.”
