Russia‘s Tyumen region declared a state of emergency Tuesday as flooding intensified, local officials said.
Gov. Aleksandr Moor said on Telegram the Tura River had risen to 877 centimeters (345.3 inches) by Tuesday morning, exceeding the danger level of 850 cm (334.6 inches).
Tyumen had been on high alert since July 14. More than 140 homes in the city were at risk of flooding last week, according to regional authorities.
