Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force (North West) ‘Operation FANSAN YAMMA‘ have rescued a kidnap victim, arrested suspects during a joint security raid, and recovered 126 rustled livestock in separate operations across Katsina State.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) ‘Operation FANSAN YAMMA’, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operations were conducted on July 26 in Charanchi, Batsari and Bakori Local Government Areas.
Danja said troops, working alongside the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, responded to a distress call reporting terrorist activity at Karkata Village in Charanchi Local Government Area during the early hours of July 26.
He explained that while advancing to the scene, the troops encountered the terrorists and engaged them with superior firepower, forcing the criminals to abandon their captive before fleeing into nearby bushes.
“The victim was rescued unharmed and reunited with her family,” he stated.

In another operation, Danja disclosed that troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with personnel of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), carried out coordinated raids at Wagin, Tundu Mobi and Chadawaki communities in Batsari Local Government Area.
The operation resulted in the arrest of suspects and the recovery of a locally fabricated firearm loaded with five cartridges, along with other exhibits.
The suspects and recovered items were subsequently handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation.
The military spokesman further revealed that troops, acting on credible intelligence, also laid an ambush along a suspected terrorist crossing point at Yankwani Village in Bakori Local Government Area, where they intercepted suspected terrorists attempting to move rustled livestock.
According to him, the terrorists fled under sustained military pressure, abandoning 126 livestock comprising 83 cows and 43 sheep.
He added that the recovered animals were handed over to the Chairman of the Peace Keeping Committee in Bakori, in the presence of local government officials, for identification and return to their rightful owners.
