A veteran undertaker from Ghana’s Eastern Region has sparked widespread discussion after opening up about one of the most difficult experiences he has faced during his years in the funeral profession.
The undertaker, popularly known as Adom Ba Adom, made the revelation during an interview on Ewiase Mu Nsem TV, where he spoke candidly about the challenges funeral service workers often endure while carrying out their duties. Watch D Video Here ➤
According to him, the incident occurred after he had been hired by a bereaved family to prepare the body of a deceased person for burial.
After arriving at the location and beginning his work, he realized there were no arrangements for his accommodation despite the job requiring him to stay overnight.
He explained that in many cases, families focus entirely on funeral preparations and unknowingly overlook the welfare of undertakers. As a result, workers are sometimes left without a place to rest, food to eat, or other basic necessities while handling lengthy assignments.
Recalling the experience, Adom Ba Adom said exhaustion eventually caught up with him. With no available room or sleeping space, he decided to spend the night in the same room where the body had been placed.
“I had no choice,” he explained, adding that although the experience was uncomfortable, he was simply trying to get enough rest before continuing with his responsibilities the following day.
The undertaker noted that such situations are not as rare as many people might think. He said funeral workers occasionally find themselves in difficult conditions because little attention is paid to their comfort during the period they are serving grieving families.
His comments have sparked conversations on social media, with many people expressing surprise at the behind-the-scenes realities faced by undertakers.
Others sympathized with funeral workers, saying their role is often overlooked despite the important service they provide to families during emotionally difficult moments.
