The Big Brother Naija Season 11 competition has taken an unexpected turn after organisers unveiled the first major twist of the season, “The Gambit,” a game-changing advantage that guarantees two housemates a place in the grand finale but strips them of eligibility to win the ₦160 million grand prize.
Key Highlights
- The Gambit twist introduced: BBNaija Season 11 organisers unveiled the season’s first major twist.
- Two housemates guaranteed finale spots: One male and one female contestant will be selected through viewers’ votes.
- No eviction this week: Fans will vote for the two Gambit housemates instead of choosing who leaves.
- ₦160 million prize forfeited: The selected Gambit housemates will remain until the finale but cannot win the grand prize.
- Other rewards remain available: Gambit housemates can still participate in tasks, challenges and activities and earn other prizes.
The surprise announcement was made during Monday night’s live session with the housemates, just a day after the show’s premiere.
At the same time, organisers opened voting for viewers to select one male and one female contestant to occupy the new role.
Under the twist, the male and female housemates with the highest number of votes will automatically secure a place in the competition until the final day.
However, the privilege comes with a significant sacrifice—they will no longer be eligible to claim the season’s record ₦160 million prize.
Explaining the new gameplay, Big Brother told the contestants that The Gambit is designed to reward longevity in the house while taking away the opportunity to emerge as the overall winner.
“This gameplay is called The Gambit. Should you be selected, you will be gifted longevity in the Big Brother house, guaranteeing you a place in the game until the end of the season,” Biggie said.
He, however, stressed that the position comes at a cost.
“You will not be competing for the grand prize. You will, however, remain a fully-fledged housemate, and all the rules of the game still apply to you.”

According to the organisers, the selected housemates will continue to participate in all tasks, challenges and house activities, while remaining eligible to earn other rewards throughout the season despite losing the chance to become the overall winner.
In a statement shared on the show’s official social media platforms, the organisers also confirmed that there will be no eviction this week, as fans are instead expected to decide who becomes The Gambit.
“Biggie’s first twist is here! There’s NO eviction this week. Instead, YOU will choose one male and one female Housemate to become The Gambit, a role with huge power and an even bigger sacrifice,” the statement read.
The organisers added that the current Head of House, Chimsom Chuka, is exempt from the voting process.
The introduction of The Gambit marks the first major strategic twist of BBNaija Season 11, with fans already divided over whether guaranteed safety until the finale is worth sacrificing the opportunity to win the show’s biggest-ever cash prize.
Since its launch on Sunday, the new season has generated widespread conversation online, with viewers closely following the contestants’ personalities, budding alliances and emerging game strategies.
The Gambit twist is expected to further reshape the dynamics of the competition in the weeks ahead.
