Woman Arrested For Severing Boyfriend’s Private Part in Kano

A 25-year-old woman has been arrested by the Kano State Police Command for allegedly severing her boyfriend’s manhood with a sharp knife after discovering that he planned to marry another woman.

The command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement on Monday night, saying the incident occurred on July 27 at Durbar Hotel in the Badawa area of Kano.

According to the statement, the suspect, identified as Maimunatu Idris of Maigatari Local Government Area of Jigawa State, allegedly attacked her boyfriend during an altercation over his reported intention to take another wife.

Kiyawa said the management of the hotel alerted the police at about 12:50 p.m., prompting the divisional police officer of Badawa Division to lead a team of detectives to the scene.

“The suspect was arrested and the weapon, a sharp knife, was recovered as an exhibit,” the police spokesman stated.

He added that the victim was immediately rushed to Abubakar Imam Urology Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment, while investigations into the incident have commenced.

The police also disclosed that its officers arrested three suspects in a separate case of alleged culpable homicide recorded in the Sheka area of Kano.

According to the statement, the victim, identified as Abubakar Auwal, was allegedly lured and assaulted by Abubakar Ali, Sulaiman Lawan, and others over allegations of having an affair with Ali’s wife.

The police said the victim was found unconscious after being brutally beaten and was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by doctors.

The suspects, including the married woman, Hafsat Umar, were arrested at the scene, while the deceased’s body has been deposited in the hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Reacting to both incidents, the Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Ibrahim Bakori, condemned the acts of violence and warned residents against taking the law into their own hands.

He assured that thorough investigations would be conducted and that all suspects would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Bakori also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the police to aid crime prevention and investigation.
