Chadwick Boseman’s Family Feud Deepens as Brothers Ask Court to Remove His Widow From Estate

A bitter family dispute has erupted over the estate of late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, with his brothers asking a Los Angeles court to remove his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, as administrator of his multimillion-dollar estate.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Chadwick’s brothers, Kevin and Derrick Boseman, accused Ledward of failing to distribute the actor’s remaining assets nearly six years after his death and alleged that she has maintained complete control of the estate while excluding other family members.

The brothers claimed that Chadwick’s parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman, are entitled to 25% of the estate but have yet to receive assets ordered by the court. They alleged that despite a 2022 court order directing Ledward to release a $40,000 long-term care insurance policy to Carolyn Boseman, the payment has still not been made.

The court filing also alleges that the estate includes royalties, SAG-AFTRA residual payments, image and intellectual property rights, real estate, a previously undisclosed bank account, and other personal assets that have not been fully disclosed.

Kevin and Derrick further claimed that Ledward’s “lack of transparency” gives the appearance that assets are being concealed from both the Boseman family and the court. They also alleged that Chadwick’s bank account and IRA remain open and that residual payments dating back to 2020 have not been properly accounted for.

In addition, the brothers accused Ledward of retaining sole control over Chadwick Boseman’s image and intellectual property rights, allowing her to continue profiting from the late actor’s legacy.

They have asked the court to appoint forensic accountant Jason Rubin as the new administrator of the estate.

Chadwick Boseman died in August 2020 at the age of 43 following a private four-year battle with colon cancer. The award-winning actor died without leaving a will, just six days after marrying Ledward. She has not publicly responded to the allegations.
