Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has applauded President Bola Tinubu for approving the dualisation and reconstruction of the Mararaban Jama’a–Pankshin–Langtang–Shendam–River Ibi Road, describing the project as a major infrastructure boost that will strengthen economic activities between Plateau and Taraba states.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, the governor said the federal road project would improve regional connectivity, unlock economic opportunities and enhance the lives of residents across the two states.
Mutfwang said the approval reflects the President’s commitment to addressing infrastructure deficits and promoting balanced national development, adding that the road would benefit both the North-Central and North-East regions.
According to him, beyond improving transportation, the project will open up rural communities, create employment, encourage investment, reduce the cost of moving goods and people, and support agriculture, commerce and tourism.
The governor expressed appreciation to Tinubu for responding to the long-standing demand for the road project, describing the President as a dependable partner committed to the development of Plateau State.
He also acknowledged the contribution of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for conveying the concerns of Plateau residents to the President, saying the approval had renewed public confidence in the Federal Government.
Mutfwang further commended the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, for his commitment to implementing the administration’s infrastructure agenda, which led to the approval of the project.
He urged Plateau residents, regardless of political, ethnic or religious differences, to remain united and continue supporting efforts to attract more federal projects and investments to the state.
The governor expressed confidence that the highway would become one of the region’s most significant infrastructure projects and leave a lasting legacy for both Plateau and Taraba states when completed.
He added that the project would also honour the long-standing vision of prominent Plateau and Middle Belt leaders who had advocated improved infrastructure to drive development across the region.
Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with the Federal Government to promote peace, strengthen security and deliver projects that will improve livelihoods, stimulate economic growth and position Plateau as an attractive destination for investment and tourism.
