
The Director-General of the Yobe State Agency for Public-Private Partnership and Investment Promotion (YAPPPIP), Dr. Aliyu Isah Chikaji, said Yobe state is actively positioning itself as a prime investment destination, with the state government creating a conducive and secure environment for both national and international investors.
Briefing journalists on Wednesday June 15, 2026 in Damaturu, Dr. Chikaji outlined the agency’s strategic vision to attract local, national, and international investors to the state, leveraging the enabling environment fostered under Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration.
According to the DG, YAPPPIP’s mandate extends to developing and managing partnerships between the government and the private sector, facilitating private sector participation in financing, developing, operating, and maintaining public infrastructure and services.
According to Dr. Chikaji, the agency also serves as the regulatory and coordinating body for all Public-Private Partnership (PPP) transactions in the state.
He highlighted the agency’s comprehensive approach to investment promotion, which includes attracting and retaining both domestic and foreign direct investment, promoting opportunities in key sectors such as agriculture, solid minerals, energy, infrastructure, and manufacturing.
The agency also provides robust investor support services, including advisory, land facilitation, approvals, and aftercare.
“As a one-stop-shop for investors, YAPPPIP is tasked with designing and implementing investor-friendly policies and incentives, collaborating with development partners, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), and local enterprises.
“The agency is also responsible for structuring and evaluating PPP proposals and agreements, with the ultimate goal of enhancing economic diversification, job creation, and sustainable development,” said the YAPPPIP DG.
In a significant development, Dr. Chikaji revealed that the agency has commenced geological mapping exercises aimed at establishing and reviving more companies across the state.
According to him, this initiative is specifically targeted at creating job opportunities and ensuring improved socioeconomic development for the people of Yobe.
The YAPPPIP DG proudly acknowledged that Yobe State has been recognized as one of the most rapidly growing commercial states among the 36 states of the federation, reflecting the positive impact of the administration’s policies.
Dr. Chikaji assured stakeholders, reaffirming the agency’s readiness and dedication to partnering with federal government agencies to improve service delivery in the private partnership investment sector.
He further noted that the government is taking the right direction in reviving non-functional state-owned companies, a move expected to significantly boost the state’s economicy landscape and create more opportunities for its citizens.
